People who suffering from crusades Uma Oya project will face further harassment. It is learnt, that Solicitor general has informed to the Supreme Court the Government has completed all the compensation obligations to Uma Oya victims. On 07 Feb; the Supreme Court started to hear the case filed in to it, regarding the complains that the damages done by this disasters project. Government’s Solicitor General made such battering statement in the Supreme Court. Mr Samantha Viddiyarathna the leader of the “People’s front Against to multi Calamity Uma Oya project” state that this is wholly untrue. Further he said this Government want to abandon Uma Oya victims as the this Government is no longer care on the the people.
He emphasised that compensation has not yet been paid to cultivation, houses and business premises, and that compensation will not be paid on a fair and reasonable basis. Despite this, Maithree and Ranil government jointly involving further harassment to more than 110,000 people, Samanthe Vidyaratne further stated that the government expresses its strong opposition to issuing false statements.
Petition hearing has postponed and will be heard on 28th March 2018. The Judgers consisted on the Bench to consider this petition was Chief Justice Mr Priyasad Dep, Sup;Cor; justice Mr Priyantha Jayawardana, Sup;Cor; justice Mr Vijayath Malalgoda.
